How Does Oktoberfest in Virginia Begin?

Virginia's Oktoberfest celebrations began in 1969. Two German-American organizations led it in Richmond: the Gesangverein Virginia (Singing Association of Virginia) and the Deutscher Sport Club (German Sports Club). This tradition has continued for over five decades, evolving into a popular cultural event across the state. Following this celebration, today, various cities and towns in Virginia host Oktoberfest celebrations, offering a taste of Bavarian traditions.
