Oktoberfest in Oregon

Oktoberfest in Oregon: Dates, Events, and Tickets

Oregon hosts five major Oktoberfest events in autumn, running from September 12 through September 27. The largest and oldest Oregon event is Mt. Angel Oktoberfest in the Northwest, drawing approximately 350,000 visitors across four days to a single small town 40 miles south of Portland.

Oregon Oktoberfest events also include Oaks Park Oktoberfest in Portland, Cottage Grove Oktoberfest, Oregon Brews & BBQ Oktoberfest in McMinnville, and Bethany Village Oktoberfest in Portland. All the Oregon events in Oktoberfest are family-friendly and feature German music, beer gardens, food vendors, children’s activities, rides, and contests. Traditional Bavarian beer brands served across events include Paulaner (Oaks Park) and a selection of German imports alongside Oregon craft brews (Mt. Angel and McMinnville).

Where to Celebrate Oktoberfest in Oregon?

Mount Angel Oktoberfest

The premier Oktoberfest event in Oregon is Mt. Angel Oktoberfest, a large Bavarian style heritage festival in the Willamette Valley. Other family friendly events include Oaks Park Oktoberfest, Cottage Grove Oktoberfest, Oregon Brews & BBQ Oktoberfest, and Bethany Village Oktoberfest.

Mt. Angel Oktoberfest

  • Location: Downtown Mt. Angel, Oregon

  • Dates: Thursday, September 17 – Sunday, September 20

  • Hours: Festival activities run across all four days

  • Tickets & Pricing: The three premium venues (Biergarten, Weingarten, Alpinegarten) require a wristband. Day pass pricing: Thursday $15 (Seniors 55+ pay $10 on Thursday, designated Senior Day); Friday $20 ($5 military discount at gate); Saturday $20; Sunday $15. All Festival Pass costs $50 online and $55 at the door. Children under 21 are free to enter the premium venues with restricted hours.

Mt. Angel Oktoberfest has run continuously since 1966, making it the oldest Oktoberfest in the Pacific Northwest. The festival spans the entire downtown of Mt. Angela town and operates four biergartens in total: the three premium paid venues plus a church-operated Weingarten known for wine and a quieter atmosphere. All 40+ food booths at Mt. Angel Oktoberfest are run exclusively by non-profit organizations with 501(c) (3) status, meaning every food purchase supports a community charity.

Most festival activities, including the Bandstand concerts, Kindergarten, street dances, Wiener Dog Races, and Car Show, are free for all ages. The Cruz 'n Car Show runs Saturday and Sunday, September 19–20, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm, featuring approximately 100 classic, vintage, and military vehicles each day with trophy awards in 30 categories at 3:00 PM. A separate Kickoff Party for ages 21+ is held the weekend before the main festival, at the Mt. Angel Festhalle and Biergarten.

Oaks Park Oktoberfest, Portland

  • Location: Oaks Amusement Park, 7805 SE Oaks Park Way, Portland, OR 97202.

  • Dates: Friday, September 25 – Sunday, September 27

  • Hours: Friday 4:00–10:00 PM, Saturday 11:00 AM–10:00 PM, Sunday 11:00 AM–7:00 PM.

  • Tickets & Pricing: Gate-only admission $7.50 for guests 48" and taller, $4.50 for guests under 48". Gate + unlimited rides: $44.45 for guests 48" and taller, $23.45 for guests under 48". Guests under 48" who are non-riders may enter free.

Oaks Park Oktoberfest is organized by the German American Society of Portland and is the only Oregon Oktoberfest that combines a traditional German heritage festival with an amusement park. The official beer sponsor at Oaks Park Oktoberfest is Paulaner, a Munich-based brewery whose Oktoberfest Märzen is served by the stein.

Oaks Park Oktoberfest combines a German style festival with amusement park rides, roller skating, mini golf, and children’s activities.  Live entertainment runs across two stages and has historically included German folk and polka bands. Oktoberfest Oaks Park also features live cooking that covers Bavarian classics, including beer-braised roast pork and red cabbage, across both festival days.

Cottage Grove Oktoberfest

  • Location: Downtown Cottage Grove, Oregon, approximately 20 miles south of Eugene via I-5 (exit 174)

  • Dates: Saturday, September 26

  • Hours: 10:00 AM – 10:00 PM

  • Tickets & Pricing: Free entry. The biergarten wristband is required for alcohol purchases.

Cottage Grove Oktoberfest is a free downtown street festival with live music, vendors, a biergarten, local business specials, and the South Valley Farmers Market. Cottage Grove Oktoberfest occupies downtown streets rather than a dedicated festival ground, and local businesses offer discounts to attendees who show a festival map or biergarten wristband. The same Saturday features the South Valley Farmers Market operating alongside the festival, adding locally grown produce and artisan goods to the vendor mix.

Oktoberfest Cottage Grove is fully community run by Downtown Cottage Grove and has grown each year since its 2022 launch, without increasing costs for attendees. Live music from local and regional acts is performed on a Main Stage throughout the day, with additional entertainment events running concurrently across the downtown area.

Oregon Brews & BBQ Oktoberfest, McMinnville

  • Location: Yamhill County Fairgrounds, 2070 NE Lafayette Ave, McMinnville, OR 97128

  • Dates: Saturday, September 12

  • Time: 12 pm to 8 pm

  • Tickets & Pricing: $10 general admission. Parking is free. Children under 5 are free to enter; ages 5–12 can enter with a paid adult. Military discount available at the gate with proof of service.

Oregon Brews & BBQ is a McMinnville festival at Yamhill County Fairgrounds with free parking, live music, German beer, and German cuisine. The event gives Oregon visitors a smaller Oktoberfest option outside Portland and Mt. Angel.

Oregon Brews & BBQ Oktoberfest sources its craft beer lineup from Oregon breweries, distinguishing its Oktoberfest from Mt. Angel and Oaks Park, which focus on imported German brands. German-inspired games at previous Oktoberfest editions have included nail-driving into a log stump and beer keg shuffleboard alongside live music.

Bethany Village Oktoberfest, Portland

  • Location: Bethany Village Centre, 15325 NW Central Dr, Portland, OR 97229.

  • Dates: Saturday, September 12

  • Hours: 1:00 PM – 5:00 PM

  • Tickets & Pricing: Free entry. Rides and carnival activities are available for an additional fee.

Bethany Village Oktoberfest is a four hour afternoon event with live German inspired music, food vendors, beer, children’s activities, carnival rides, and local vendors. The live music act, Z Musikmakers, is a local family band that has performed at the event for multiple years and specializes in German-style folk music.

Two scheduled intermission acts are included in a Portland Dance Center performance at 3:15 PM and in a Stein Holding Competition at 4:45 pm. Approximately 20% of Oregon residents report German ancestry, and the event explicitly positions itself as a community gathering for that heritage.

What to Wear to Oktoberfest in Oregon?

Men wear Lederhosen, leather shorts or breeches that fall to the knee or mid-thigh, with H-suspenders and embroidered chest straps. A checkered or plain linen trachten shirt is Haferlschuhe, and knee-high grey or white Loferl socks complete the look. A felt Alpine hat is optional but common at Mt. Angel and Oaks Park.

Women wear a Dirndl, which consists of four components: a fitted bodice, a white or colored blouse worn underneath, a full, gathered skirt that falls below the knee, and an apron. Flat Mary Jane-style shoes or low heels work better than sandals for extended standing at outdoor festivals.

At Mt. Angel Oktoberfest, wearing Trachten is common enough that many visitors come in full costume. At Oaks Park, a dirndl blouse with regular jeans, or lederhosen shorts with a plain shirt, is widely acceptable. Cottage Grove and Bethany Village welcome costumes, but have lower participation rates.

What to Know Before Going to Oktoberfest in Oregon?

Planning ahead for parking, discounts, entry tickets, and timings is important before you attend any of the Oktoberfest Oregon events.

  • Parking at Mt. Angel fills by mid-morning on Saturday. The official recommendation is to use satellite parking lots and shuttle services, both organized by the festival and running throughout the event.

  • At Oaks Park, arrive before 1:00 PM on Saturday to avoid long lines for amusement rides.

  • Mt. Angel is cash-friendly; card purchases carry an added surcharge. Bring cash for food purchases at the nonprofit booths, as some accept only cash.

  • Senior Day at Mt. Angel is Thursday, September 17. Entry to all three premium venues costs $10.00 flat for guests 55 and older, compared to $15 for standard Thursday admission and $20 on Friday and Saturday.

  • Friday at Mt. Angel is Military Appreciation Day. Active and veteran military personnel receive a $5 discount on gate admission when purchased at the gate.

  • Cottage Grove and Bethany Village are the only fully free events. No wristband or ticket is needed to enter either festival.

  • Check each venue’s pet policy before bringing a pet. Mt. Angel allows leashed pets in some outdoor areas but not inside venues.
