Oktoberfest Booths 2024 Offering Fun and Flavour

There is a world outside the Beer tent, which makes the Okotberfest magical- the Oktoberfest booths.  A trip to Oktoberfest is incomplete without stopping at the Vogelpfeifer whistle, trying the strength at the Hau den Lukas strongman game, or taking a few traditional Lebkuchen gingerbread hearts back home as souvenirs. All the Oktoberfest stands are a world of their own.

    Types of the Oktoberfest Booths

Multiple Oktoberfest booths, from souvenir stalls to entertainment options, provide visitors with a vibrant experience. These add a family atmosphere to the festival, with attractions for all age groups.

    The Souvenir Photo Studio

The photo booths are great ways to keep a memory of Okotberfest, especially when you are flying from far fetch to celebrate the Wiesn in Munich. In the photo booth “Be Marilyn,” a memory is saved for life in Oktoberfest wear: dirndl or lederhosen.  This keepsake photo studio presents you with a perfect chance to live your Marilyn Monroe moment, and the dirndl surely looks great with the effect. Hold an Oktoberfest photo booth prop and say cheers!

How does The Photo Booth Work??

These booths can capture memories with friends and family. The fun part is that capturing photos costs nothing. The only payment is for the photos you develop. If you are unhappy with the result, you can repeat the process as many times as you want. While there is no obligation to dress up for oktoberfest, surely a dirndl dress and Bavarian lederhosen are the appropriate attire to capture Oktoberfest keepsake at the Photo booth.

    Oktoberfest Munchner Vogelpfeifer

A few steps away from the Statue of Bavaria is the Munich Vogelpfeife(bird whistlers), a chirping stall that amuses the Oktoberfest goers. The whistler is made of a wax cardboard box, a metal ring, and a membrane.

    How to Use Vogelpfeifer

The right way to use the Vogelpfeifer is to place it on the tongue and soften it.  Pressing it against the palate. Make the right sound with your teeth closed. These whistles are a must-experience at oktoberfest entertainment, not only for the grown-ups but also for the young fest-goers.

The Classic Hau den Lukas Stall

The Hau den Lukas Stall has been celebrated as part of the Oktoberfest, and this booth is particularly for those who want to flex their muscles. The game is more than just showing muscles.

How to Blow Hau den Lukas

The strongmen's stalls are spread across the thereseiweisn, working on the same principle of hitting the button with a hammer. The hammer blow causes the metal insert to define how strong you are. The higher the insert, the stronger you are!

Women can also demonstrate their strength by trying their hands on one of the Lukas. Smaller versions of this Lukas are also available for young attendees to try. The special technique of standing straight and accurately really helps in getting a great blow. While this booth is fun if taken casually,  some safety precautions are necessary. Avoid swinging the hammer over the head to achieve maximum results with minimum effort.

    Oktoberfest Souvenir Shops

Buying souvenirs and gifts is a great idea to cherish the memories of Oktoberfest. From a beer stein to gingerbread hearts, Oktoberfest offers a variety of choices to take back home.

    Souvenir Options at Booths

    • Gingerbread hearts (Lebkuchenherz) are known as Classic Oktoberfest souvenirs, especially when the right icing is chosen.
    • Beer steins are another popular way to enjoy the brew even after leaving the Wiesn. Steeling the beer stein is prohibited, but you can pass the security check if you buy it from one of the souvenir shops.
    • Clothe pins, or Glupperl in Bavarian parlance, are also widely popular in souvenir shops.
    • Different types of headwear, such as beer hats or chicken hats/hendl hats, are popular souvenirs among Oktoberfest goers. Hendl hats look like chickens, and when pushed together, these hats clap their thighs together.
    • Pretzel chains and Edelweiss jewelry can also be bought from one of the Oktoberfest souvenir shops.

    The Glückshafen Lottery Shop

At the Glückshafen lottery booth, everyone can try their luck.  Even if you fail, the money gathered is donated to a good cause. This booth is situated right behind the entrance of the Oktoberfest. The lottery ticket is sold for only 1 euro, thus making it a popular spot for Oktoberfest goers.

    What are the Lottery Rewards?

Anyone lucky enough to win at Glückshafen Lottery Shop receives large stuffed animals, comic figures, or toys as a reward. The lottery proceeds are given to geriatric care, youth welfare services, and other social institutions. It all began in 1816 when a feminine hit Munich, making things difficult for everyone.

    Schedule of Oktoberfest Booths Operations

The Oktoberfest's timings depend on the event's day and time.  These stalls can be visited during the extended hours before entering the Oktoberfest tents. Following are the days and general timings for all the Oktoberfest booths:

    • The first Saturday of Oktoberfest opens at 9 am and remains open until midnight.
    • The booths are open from 10:00 am to 11:30 pm Monday through Thursday (closed October 3rd for the holiday).
    • On Fridays and October 2nd (Monday), the booths are open for extended hours until midnight!

    Wrapping It up!

Oktoberfest offers so much more than beer and pretzels. Outside the beer tents are booths, stalls, and shops offering different types of entertainment. Some classic Oktoberfest booths are souvenir photo booths, Munich whistle booths, the Hau den Lukas shop, a souvenir shop, and a lottery shop. No Oktoberfest visit is complete without visiting one of these booths and buying one of the souvenirs as a keepsake.
